Anyone use or know the hope 30mm threaded bottom brackets? Do they need a specific fitting tool or is it just a normal htII tool? Do they use smaller bearings to fit them in?
I am just pondering whether to go for an xo1 bb30 crank or an xt8000 to go in a standard threaded bb frame.
Normal HT2 tool.
Not sure about the bearings - check on their website as they have exploded parts diagrams for much of their stuff and certainly for hubs they just use standard bearings so it may be the same for BBs
You'll need a Hope HT188 tool to fit it, and the bearings are S71806, so neither are the same as HT2.
A 'standard' BB30 chainset (for 68mm shell) won't work with 30mm outboard bsa cups.Hope,RF Cinch,FSA 386 Evo etc all use a wider axle to accommodate the now 86/92mm wide BB.

As above check axle lengths - my bb30 crank was the wrong axle to swap into a standard shell with hope 30bsa cups.
The bsa30 cups also require there own tool as the diameter is greater - from memory the tool from hope was about £9 from my local shop
I never considered that the axle lengths might be difference, although it does seem a bit obvious now it has been pointed out. Does anyone know if a x01 crankset will work with the bsa cups?
