I’ve just had fitted a new Hope 10-44 cassette on to Pro 4 hub with all of the usual Hope trimmings, and there is noticeable lateral play 4/5mm on the cassette......as it’s a direct replacement, all bearings have been renewed and there are no functional components left from the original, all new. Still, there’s this wobble, which causes ghost/dodgy shifting........tried to post a video, but “Post Image” doesn’t appear to be able to handle them.
any ideas please?
basically, if you grab a couple of teeth on the 44 cog, you can wobble the cassette from side to side.
I'd guess that the fault lies with the freehub. Take the cassette off and see if the same amount of play is evident in the freehub.
If so, tighten up the nuts that the axle passes through with some come spanners.
Silly question but I have to ask, you do have th dedicated Hope greeting don't you? Also, the lock ring is supposed to go to 70kN which is well bastard tight.
Is the alu half locked into and lined up with the steel section properly?
Might be related - the Boost conversion kit comes with an additional 2mm spacer that fits between the freehub and the endcap only for Hope freehubs. Could it be that you are missing that spacer (top left)? (Stu's screenshot of the instruction sheet here)

Are you using hopes cassette lock ring?
Cheers guys, I’ve passed all of your suggestions on to my spanner man at LBS.
