All I know is what I've seen on YouTube. Are you planning any exciting rides?

It's the bike I'm going to buy whenever I get round to doing my bike licence.

Itchy Boots has one and her adventures on it are great viewing.

My BIL has some 250HP KTM that weighs 280kg. This looks so much better

these Honda's are low stressed engines with long oil/service intervals, KTM'S/Husky's etc tend to be more competition based and more service intensive.

The Rally has a steel subframe for hanging luggage off - they are a motorized donkey for plodding across continents on as per Itchy Boots.

I'd love one too. Quite smitten after watching Itchy boots take hers up the Americas. I think it would be ideal for scooting about the Scottish islands.

CRF is on my shortlist. Looking forward to your updates!
Planning on upgrading the suspension? From what I hear it’s the only slight weak point.

I’ve just got a 300L for exploring the Peaks.
Depends if you intend to off road, if yes your going to have to spend on suspension.
At the moment I just have the rally raid shock on mine, big improvement.

You’ll be better over here. https://www.advrider.com/f/threads/crf300l-rally-owners.1500319/

Sitting in Sheffield wishing I had exactly the same thing for days when I can't pedal!

I'd love to commute on one then go out after work instead of trudging home and plonking myself on the sofa.

Working my way round the Peaks element of the TET then will venture into Yorkshire.

Yeah that sounds perfect. The TET looks amazing in some parts.

OP has gone quiet. You got your bike yet? Pics and first impressions required!

Very nice... Not sure about the face, mind, but all that clear plastic is very sensible

I have a crf300L
They are heavy and maybe underpowered, but such a fun little bike, I love it.
The rear shock is dangerous, once changed it really transforms the bike, I changed the front spring too but that didn’t make a huge difference.
I’ve also fitted an ascerbis bash guard & hand guards, heated grips and kenda tyres.
I haven’t done any big tours, just local off road rides and green lanes.

+1 for pictures and list of mods @boxwithawindow
I'm liking these a lot, though I'm thinking a sort 250 model would be a nice return to m/c after 25 years away (can't justify new 300 [or 2nd hand] prices).

Very tempted by one too, there's a badly described one on ebay at the moment £5.5k with all the sensible mods already done. But looks like it's had a hard life already and the description just says "but needs a wash and a service", so why not at least give it a wash and an oil change to sell?

I'm completely blasé about adding scratches to my own vehicles, but for some reason I'm completely put off by any pre-existing marks!

That's the one

If it was cheaper I'd be tempted and spend the winter tarting it up.

After the abuse I put my bike through at the weekend you quickly get used to a few marks appearing. If u are using these types of bikes off-road you adapt your mindset and scrapes are just part of the adventure. Well at least that's what I was telling myself after picking my bike up out of a river again. So much fun can be had on these bikes

He does have a make an offer button. You'd really need to see some more actual pics though. Might be alright under the mud.

So bike been bought and it's perfect for me.

Planning on riding the TET down to Portugal then home via eastern europe and Sweden.

I've done a couple of hundred miles following my local TET route and I can safely say it's a great bike and more than enough for my limited skillset and hasn't let me down yet.

Having picked it up a great many times I definitely wouldn't want anything heavier, it cruises on the road on knobbly tyres at 60mph no bother and gets between 83 - 95 mpg depending on how much off road is on your route.

Upgrades at the moment...

K tech damper and springs in the fork.

Rally raid rear shock (long travel one)

Outback motortek racks and crash bars

Acerbis hand guards

Heavy duty aluminium skid plate

adventure spec panniers

Michelin tracker tyres with rimlocks

navigation system

motox exhaust system on the way....

I'm just relieved to hear from you! I was worried that NBD might might not have gone well.

Glad you're enjoying it. I'm still torn between one of these and a trials bike.

I’ve recently joined my local TRF group and the majority on the ride were on Honda crfs. I haven’t worked out how to post pics on here yet, but it looked like a honda experience day, such fun little bikes.

These guys also ride them and do a podcast most weeks, an interesting and easy listen for the commute.

If only it were that easy. You'll be lucky to find one in stock anywhere.

Looks like it's gone now anyway, phew.

The hypothetical list of "ohh well I'd have to upgrade ....." was getting silly 😂

motox exhaust system on the way….

Annoyingly loud and will just piss off all those within earshot, including yourself.

I picked up a wr250f a few weeks back and the previous owner had fitted an fmf system, it's sitting on the bench in my garage after the 1st ride out with it fitted.

Im not really interested in loud so thanks for the heads up, I think noisy bikes just alienate you from the communities you ride through.

I am however interested in the rust free 2 Kilo weight saving, I think they can be loud if you run them open but I bumped into another 300 rally owner with one fitted with the dB killer and I didn't think it sounded much louder than mine and did sound like the motor was breathing a little easier.

Worst case scenario I'll sell a limb and buy a Yosh Can.

The Peak Motorcycles you tube channel mentioned above does testing on end cans and systems. Specifically from a noise level and weight savings perspective.

Can anyone recommend me some body armour (chest, back, arms) that I can wear under my motorcycle jacket please?

The fox stuff with the gel pads looks good but I've a 50" chest so they don't do it in my size.

Ive used a forcefield one for a day in Wales but I think it would be too bulky t wear under my bike jacket.
