seriously, what would this cost to produce a run of say 20 of em?
I would have one.
Now we need a " name this bike" thread 💡 😆
As above boss should consider a production run......
That is a true thing of beauty - well played. 🙂
Sweeeeeeet!
Well done, good job.
If it ever comes up for sale, I want 1st dibs please 🙂
needs a reverb.....
Thanks everyone for the nice comments.
Once it's done I'll have a chat with the boss to see if he'd be interested in doing a run of them.
Would take a bit of work as I'd have to source tyres, wheels etc and would need to re-work the fork as buying a load of CSU's would be expensive...
How much do you think people would pay for one?
I'd be a bit wary of getting too into the idea of making a few of them without firm commitment - easy for people to say on here they'd buy one, may be a different story when it actually comes down to it!
Good point. I'd probably go the route of asking for a deposit 1st..but need to see what the boss man says
Looks fantastic, a top effort and serious man points to stevied.
I hate be a killjoy but I imagine there would be all sorts of CE marking and product liability hoops to jump through before offering a general sale version. This would possibly make a small production run unrealistic.
Excellent. We will all look forward to a review of the first ride.
kickstarter...
Finished painting the forks this morning. Have gone black and gold to keep the original Fox look. Not too bad for my 1st attempt @ spraying:[URL= http://i729.photobucket.com/albums/ww299/deesta-pics/IMAG2213_zps6erqgtrs.jp g" target="_blank">

We've got to have a picture of you riding it now 🙂
Ace!
Looks great, apologies if I have missed it further up, but what size are the wheels?
Also had you considered a brake/s?
Lots of csu's available from Fox owners..
Wheels are 12 1/2" rear, 14" front
Love it.
Actually amazing!
I love the top caps Steve. In fact the whole project is awesome. Can't wait to see it when finished. By the way I think that you should colour the seatpost. Maybe black to match the bars/ stem or gold to match the stanchions?
Thanks guys, appreciate the kind words! @Edd, I've gone black with the seat post. Gold looked a bit meh..
Little update today: Stickers arrived so done the forks, frame now @ the powder coaters so can't wait to get that back.

Powder coat!?
Clear I hope?
Clear I hope?
Red, I'm afraid. It's SD jnr's favourite colour and she likes the colour of daddy's bike. Had a couple of prices for painting which were scary (£70-80) and powder coating came in at £25.
edit: Figured she'll probably bash the hell out of it so cheaper option being the more sensible one
I hope she likes it 😀
I hope she likes it
So do I or this whole episode would've been the biggest waste of time since...29ers? 😉
I absolutely love this, and depending on price would definitely be interested in getting one for my daughter.
Brilliant work 🙂
Jen.
Mate, you have some talent. That is a cracking job, I wish I had the resources to do this.
If you do a run I will have one depending on price.
Well done Steve.... Hope you're making some lights to go with it as well 😉
Wow - I don't think I can do ANYTHING that well.
Thanks all. Smudge, I've still got an old Altair in bits so may finish that off to go on it 😆
How come you went for big wheels? Is it difficult to get hold of 10" ?
Got the wheels free 🙂
wheely?
Now on the ChainReaction Hub: http://www.chainreactionhub.com/latest-news/1194-the-ultimate-first-bike-diy-mini-intense-project
😀
Very nice - and very good of your work to support you.
All done. Stickers aren't quite right but I doubt she'll notice.

Fantastic 🙂
What a lucky young lady.
Let's hope it inspires her to a lifetime of cycling 8)
Awesome 🙂
Very nice! Special gift that is.
That's great. Well done.

Amazing!
Lovely. What's it weigh?
amazing!
[ignoring the red bits in the stickers that should be white that are making my teeth itch]
i'd be happy to buy one of those, unpainted.... very happy to
FANTASTIC!!!!!! WELL DONE!
Stunning, beautiful job. Lucky daughter!
Great project! I've considered doing one myself for a while. Better hurry as the youngest is 14 months....
Just out of interest stevied, what 5th axis is that? I see you're running it on a Hardinge, I run two GX1000's but with Siemens control and am trying to convince the boss it would be a good idea 😉
That's amazing, you have a very lucky daughter!
That is absolutely ace.
Love it! The head tube badge is a nice touch.
Epic!
Amazing job : ) an all-time coolest kid's bike of all time contender.
Fantastic work!! Gorgeous little bike, and even better because you've gone to the effort of making something special rather than just shell out for something expensive and mass market.
I love it. Presents like that make special childhood memories.
Thank you all for your comments.
Weight is 4.4kg so a bit heavy but rolls well.
I'm going to sort the stickers with some white piping tape.
The 5th axis we have is a Nikken one, so useful and worth getting.
As and when she gets "balance", would welding a BB, sticking some cranks and a freewheel and a front brake be doable?
You should send a pic to Intense.
That is just fantastic. Well done and a lucky daughter. Better get it wrapped and off to Santa quick !!

You should send a pic to Intense
Maybe not in light of the recent MTB company copyright lawsuits!
Seriously lucky little girl, I wish you were my dad 😆
Oops, too late. Well, I can always take the stickers off 😉
umm, it appears to have no brake.
But apart from that, excellent. Really nice to see.
dude, your bike just showed up on an email from CRC.
get a patent in quick - there's likely to be a load of copies hitting the shops!
CRC contacted me about putting on their hub.
Here's a pic of the bike with my 6.6 :D[URL= http://i729.photobucket.com/albums/ww299/deesta-pics/IMAG2261_zpsu7yxkgle.jp g" target="_blank">

Now you need kashima forks to match 😉
Wow, this is truly impressive...well done.
Fantastic Steve
now you need to make another 500 to supply CRC 😀
Thanks all. Cheers Chris, that'd be a nice little project for sure!
Truely awesome!
Custom F & R discs.......
Finally got the stickers finished with some thin strips of vinyl.[URL= http://i729.photobucket.com/albums/ww299/deesta-pics/IMAG2277_zps5k940til.jp g" target="_blank">

Well done - and happy Christmas to you and your daughter
Wow thats cool.
Really is a superb bit of crafting 11\10 for effort and finish
Hope she loves it as much as we do
Well, the bike was a bit of a miss yesterday but today she's been on it in the house with daddy supporting her 😀
It's a little bit big but she keeps saying "again"..very happy daddy!
That's an excellent end to the story!
Really pleased she's liking it! You deserve every bit of satisfaction you get! 🙂 🙂
Had the 1st proper ride on the bike this weekend. Still a bit big but she's got the idea..and looks very happy!
