seriously, what would this cost to produce a run of say 20 of em?

I would have one.

Now we need a " name this bike" thread 💡 😆

As above boss should consider a production run......

Thanks everyone for the nice comments.
Once it's done I'll have a chat with the boss to see if he'd be interested in doing a run of them.
Would take a bit of work as I'd have to source tyres, wheels etc and would need to re-work the fork as buying a load of CSU's would be expensive...
How much do you think people would pay for one?

I'd be a bit wary of getting too into the idea of making a few of them without firm commitment - easy for people to say on here they'd buy one, may be a different story when it actually comes down to it!

Good point. I'd probably go the route of asking for a deposit 1st..but need to see what the boss man says

Looks fantastic, a top effort and serious man points to stevied.
I hate be a killjoy but I imagine there would be all sorts of CE marking and product liability hoops to jump through before offering a general sale version. This would possibly make a small production run unrealistic.

Finished painting the forks this morning. Have gone black and gold to keep the original Fox look. Not too bad for my 1st attempt @ spraying:

Looks great, apologies if I have missed it further up, but what size are the wheels?

Also had you considered a brake/s?

I love the top caps Steve. In fact the whole project is awesome. Can't wait to see it when finished. By the way I think that you should colour the seatpost. Maybe black to match the bars/ stem or gold to match the stanchions?

Thanks guys, appreciate the kind words! @Edd, I've gone black with the seat post. Gold looked a bit meh..
Little update today: Stickers arrived so done the forks, frame now @ the powder coaters so can't wait to get that back.

Clear I hope?

Red, I'm afraid. It's SD jnr's favourite colour and she likes the colour of daddy's bike. Had a couple of prices for painting which were scary (£70-80) and powder coating came in at £25.
edit: Figured she'll probably bash the hell out of it so cheaper option being the more sensible one

Great project! I've considered doing one myself for a while. Better hurry as the youngest is 14 months....

Just out of interest stevied, what 5th axis is that? I see you're running it on a Hardinge, I run two GX1000's but with Siemens control and am trying to convince the boss it would be a good idea 😉

Fantastic work!! Gorgeous little bike, and even better because you've gone to the effort of making something special rather than just shell out for something expensive and mass market.

I love it. Presents like that make special childhood memories.

Thank you all for your comments.
Weight is 4.4kg so a bit heavy but rolls well.
I'm going to sort the stickers with some white piping tape.
The 5th axis we have is a Nikken one, so useful and worth getting.

As and when she gets "balance", would welding a BB, sticking some cranks and a freewheel and a front brake be doable?
