A friend helped me (finally) cut down the steerer tube on my Stooge today. Neither of us had a lot of experience in doing this. Every time we needed an odd tool it was right there despite his bike shed being a mess, he managed to find a steerer tube cutting guide tool, a star fangled nut installer and a vice, we got the cut in exactly the right place first time, everything came off and went back on the bike perfectly, I was even able to re-use the star fangled nut. We were left afterwards looking at the bike and wondering if we'd missed something it went so easily.

Anyone else been dreading a job and then had it go ridiculously well first time?

See my post on the last thing you made thread where I re-bored a bearing seat in a swingarm. So much potential for it to go wrong but everything went exactly as planned

TimP was having trouble getting am IS d disk mount square. Lent him my facing tool - got a text saying what a pleasure the job had been.

The right to four the job is brilliant.

I think the disk house barb driver is one of my favourite - fantastic tool.

Yeah, the right tool for the right job is something I only rarely seem to be able to achieve. I think what I need is a workshop rather than a bucket o'tools.
