Can i use my oldish XT hollowtech II cranks with the PF92/BB92 pressfit BB which my new frame takes?
will the spindle be long enough?

also, while i'm at it, new frame (2018 Fule ex) is boost, so will i have (theoretical) chainline issues with a non-boost crankset?
rear hub will just be getting a hope conversion kit

Yes to the first question.

also, while i’m at it, new frame (2018 Fule ex) is boost, so will i have (theoretical) chainline issues with a non-boost crankset?

The 3mm boost offset is created by the chainring, not the crank. So you may need a new boost chainring. It could be that you get away with a non-boost chainring if there is enough clearance between chainring and frame.

I've just done this and I found:

- my non-boost chainset gave me quite a reasonable chainline; if I'd had a boost one I think only the smallest sprocket would have been in-line with the chainring.

- the rear mech has to work a bit harder since the cassette is 3mm inboard.

- it feels like you're dancing a fine line between chainline and chainring clearance on the chainstay.

Some cranks do the offset in the chainring, others in the spider. Shimano generally in the spider I think- don’t believe you can do much about it with an older set of cranks (other then just hope the chainring clears the stays, which it probably will tbf)

righto, will have to wait and see then.

if i need to change cranks, what types other than shimano work with bb92?

Raceface? GXP? anything with 24mm axle?

Definitely 24mm, otherwise you have to cram tiny and expensive bearings in there. Raceface aeffect is a pretty standard recommendation here- at least, I ended up buying one based on that and it’s solidly forgettable so far.

Can you initially just get an adapter to work with the current pf92 BB till it wears out, then for a Hope one etc?
