Myself and 3 friends are planning a trip to BC. We are going to hire a vehicle to get around as we are basing ourselves in whistler but want to ride the likes of Squamish, pemberton and the north shore locations. We are unsure on what size of vehicle would be best for 4 bikes and luggage been looking at the dodge caravan. Does anyone have any advice or recommendations for suitable vehicles from past experiences

Many thanks Paul

every time we've done similar in bc we've hired a full-size pickup (ie dodge ram) - that way there's plenty of ability to shuttle uplifts and throw bikes/muddy gear in without issues. We did have a mid-size 4x4 one year, but it was a major ballache in comparison - especially when you get off the plane and everythign is still boxed up

I think we hired from enterprise, the airport locations dont have them, but they have a 'deliver' service so I'd imagine you can get them to drop it off kerb-side.

5 of us just flew to vegas without bikes and rented bikes in Sedona.
We got a Dodge caravan and did a day where we shuttled with 5 bikes (front wheels out),5 people and it worked fine. It would not have worked if we had bike bags to move also.
4 boxed bikes would probably be a squeeze though.
I have however done airport transfers in our old lwb minivan with 5 people, 4 bikes, but the was prior to evoc bags being the normal and their awkward size.

Image below to give you an idea.. Stow and go seat folded, 3 guys on the back row, helmets, shoes and packs in the back. With 4, you can stow the back seat and youd have more room.

Have a look at a van from UHaul. You'd have to get the shuttle in to the cit to collect but they are much cheaper than airport rentals.
