Quite like the portability idea of these things.

Has anyone got/used them?

Obviously, just for Pub/cafe stops.

The zip tie things?
Yes I have a pair. Seem to work ok and I still have my bike. Used for cafe stops as a delaying strategy. I'm not sure of their ability to actually stop anyone.

Yes, I use them for nipping into a shop etc.
Very handy.

Wouldn't wander off too far though

What is the point of this? Can be cut with cable cutters according to mbr reveiw and its not even a lock - anything jammed in the two holes will open it. Stopping in top gear and flipping all the levers to bottom gear would slow down a thief more.

simple but much more effective is a padlock thru the chainring

I carry a small abus covered chain combination lock. Fits in a tool bottle. Could probably cut it with scissors, but it's a deterent that says steel someone else's

The most practical locks I’ve seen are Abus Bordo. The like a folding D lock with a bracket the screws to bottle cage bosses. Pretty tough.
