Just biked back from Market Heskett after a weekend camping in the local area and I stupidly thought it would be a great idea to bike home, ouch it is unsirprisling moist and a head wind all the way home certainly gave it the 10/10 in the pain factor department. Last rode it in the summer a few years back and it was mostly rideable but my boots got a hammering today :-(. I think its one of those rides on a must do as its stunning all the way up and down.

I'm staying in a holiday cottage in Martindale at the moment and had a bit of your High Street route on my mind but going up via Angle Tarn and coming back down towards Askham fell but you've put me off a little 😐
I've done it from Pooley Bridge when it was warm and dry and yes it was spectacular but I'm not sure I'm up for trudging through bog in the mist. Shame really as I only get a week in the lakes once a year so I like to make the most my flabby unfit body can make of it.
BTW you might remember me and my cow bell from last years SSUK in the midlands heckling by the rooty roll down.
Conkers, try this one, cracking days riding.
Pooley bridge - askham moor - howtown - UBW - Hartsop - hayeswater res - Knott (left before top tho) - satura crags - angle tarn - boredale hause - UBW - howtown - road back to pooley bridge.
Did it earlier this year to get to the top of Kidsty Pike.
Rubbish. Wont be doing it again.
Yes Nobeer done that before and it's an amazing ride so I'll do that instead and leave the bog on the tops alone this year.
Great views (sometimes) & remote-ish.
A grassy slog in either direction unless there's been no rain for 6 months.
That is all.
With that distance & ascent you coulda done the 3 Peaks instead 😉
My most extreme MTB ride was from Kendal - Penrith via the length of High Street, really needed crampons on to get up from the Troutbeck side, i actually got lifted by the wind on top & my rucksack froze due to the windchill. Awesome.
