You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Sorry I am sure this has been done many times, found a post 5+ years ago but guess technology has moved on again.
I have a Hope Vision HID unit that I'd like to convert to LED, no issues machining bits and bobs and soldering.
Has anyone done this recently and can give me some advice?
Thanks
It would help if we can see inside the unit, you need a decent heat path to the outside of the housing to dissipate the hate from the leds and stop them frying.
If you use a taskled driver they have a heat monitoring function that will dip power when the heat sink gets to a set temperature.
Dimensions of the housing maybe a limiting factor of which optics will fit and how many leds you can squeeze in.
Reading this thread, you can fit a 35mm optic. So a triple with 3 Cree XML is what I'd go for.
Machine the heat sink nice and tight.
Is the back of the light removable?
You'll also need a momentary switch for the taskled drivers to operate the different modes and programming it.

these were mine threads on it
just look at those, take some measurements for heatsink in your Hope set-up and you should be good to go
Great, thanks guys
