Hey guys for theose of you who know about my sub 20lb Dirtjump build, iv been looking for spokes.
Now I have looked at Ti and apprently these are just the worst type of spoke, non butted are too heavy, I looked at DT super comp tripple butted and DT Revo's Double but neither of them come in 24" wheel sizes.
So after much searching around i stumbled upon the sujestion of Aero spokes, more specifically Sapim CX RAY spokes...
Apprently designed for Downhilling and some 'firm' quotes on their site.
What are the deal with these (please dont just flame and post what you 'think')
If you are saying these are good or bad please [B]BACK IT UP with eiteher experiance or a source[/B]
Any realworld experiance with these?

As light as revolutions. High fatigue strength.
Can't back up the latter, do you need high strength?
I'll be using them for Dirt jumping and park so i need some good strength...in fairness them numbers mean nothing to me so i dont know how to read it(as good or bad)

Have you seen the price of them? I'd not bother for a dirt jump bike...
But if you must, Nico used to run them for DH - he was quite smooth mind 😉
Do you save much over double butted DTs? Can't remember off the top of my head. Run double butted DTs for dh for years. Rim's more important than the spokes.
They build a really strong wheel -only downsides are the initial cost and the subsequent cost of rebuild if you do tacco your wheel while jumping.
I've got a road wheelset built with them and I'd have had my latest mountain wheelset done with them if my local wheel builder (Steve at iCycles in Innerleithen) could get hold of any. Ended up with std DB DT spokes, but may go back to have them rebuilt with the CX-Rays when he gets em in.
Steve reckons he'd build all wheels with them if he could convince folk to spend on them.
They save about 50g per wheel over DB.
Admittedly, this may not be that much if you're using Big Jumpy rims.

As i mentioned i cannot get DT DB's as they dont do them in the sizes i need, hence looking at these.
Cost isnt an issue at all, id sooner spend the extra for a strong light spoke.
Rim will be some nice NS trailmasters (which alot of DJ's use)
So from reading it sounds like these would be ok?(taking cost out of the equasion)
Ill buy spare anyway just incase a do snap some.

I guess in theory bad but if i do spins would they be alright?

My guess is it would be more manoeuvrable for tricks and whatnot. That and the novelty/showoff factor of a dirtjump bike as light as many peoples (low-)mid end road or CX bikes?

No, they will be exactly as stiff as a wheel built with round spokes of the same weight ie Sapim Laser or DT Revolution, so not very. Any bad landing is just as likely to screw them up, it'll just cost you far more!
