I've always been a Shimano man and not really up on Sram stuff, new bike build is going to be Sram 12 speed and I'd like build it up as X01.

Looking around it seems X01 stuff looks thin on the ground. Is it due to be superseded soon?

I need the whole shooting match, non boost cranks/cassette/mech&shifter/chain and also brakes. Are there any deals about?

Thanks.

SRAM availability in the UK for the last 2years or so has always seemed patchy....  I'd check out some of the German sites (bike-discount.de, R2, bike-components) as availability and price has always been better in my experience.

In general, X01 can be thought of as ‘XTR Trail’ and XX as ‘XTR Race’.  Always thin on the ground, Gucci, nicer materials lower weight probably more than most people want to spend due to designers not really worrying about cost implications of their specification.  X01-DH is a 7speed iteration with super short mech etc.  GX is somewhere around SLX-XT.  NX is Acera-Deore.  SRAM have never really cared about lining up with Shimano model ranges but obviously people like to do this for comparison.

For my money, as with Shimano it’s worth going upmarket on the shifter and downmarket at the tail if you are looking for the best performance/£.  GX shifters have that slightly nasty feel SLX used to around M675 and let the whole show down (in my opinion).

Thanks!

Would go for Shimano 12 speed but it looks imho it looks awful.

Just found XX1 for less the the Germans are selling X01 for http://www.wiggle.co.uk/sram-xx1-eagle-12sp-groupset/?lang=en&curr=GBP&dest=1&sku=100736848&kpid=100736848&utm_source=google&utm_term=&utm_campaign=UK_PLA_Components&utm_medium=base&utm_content=mckv|sJXeGKCsr_dc|mcrid|67090789502|mkw||mmt||mrd|100736848uk|mslid||&mkwid=sJXeGKCsr_dc&pcrid=67090789502&prd=100736848uk&pgrid=17507338502&ptaid=aud-131695477502:pla-128000858222

The frame is boost. Do I need to be looking for boost cranks, even if I'm using a non boost Pro4 hub with boost adaptors?

I see the Germans are selling '2018 DUB' versions though?

Its the same price on Chain Reaction and you could get another 10% off with a BC code plus 2% topcashback.  Running both the XX1 and X01 and can't tell the difference. Running Saint brakes though.

Ah, thanks jamj. I can’t tell the difference from one Sram cassette to the next!

Thanks Tracey. Tempted to go with E4s again but fancy a change. Keep looking at the Code RSCs.
