At the weekend I managed to throw my mech into my wheel however it was luckily at a very slow speed so didn't cause tooo much damage... But basically I managed to break the little piece in this photo that looks like a sort of secondary mech hanger and to me it looks replaceable?? Anyone know if you can and if so where might I get one/what is it?
As a side note, at the weekend when the bike broke in Prot Talbot on our way up to Afan, we were stopped at the side of the road with my bike upside down assessing the damage whan an old man stopped in his car and asked if we needed a pump,we jokingly said 'no but err, have you got a vice?'... he told us he lived just down the road and to come and he had a big workshop (he restored historic cars). I went down and we spend a good half an hour butchering part of my mech to fit back onto the bike straight... Had a great chat with him, he was 73, called Howard Wilson and owned a small transport museum with around 15-20 historic cars down in the town! He was a hero and got me on my way biking again for the day instead of wasting my train journey from london to sit at the cafe!

RM.
I'm fairly sure this will be replaceable as it is Shimano future proofing for direct mount rear mech's and is designed to be removed. However I suspect the chances of laying your hands on any Shimano spares quickly are remote. You could also try Madison for advice; but again may be lucky to even get a reply. Your best bet may be a LBS and get them to contact the importer.
Impressed with your comments about Howard Wilson - great when you meet people like him. 😀
Chaps - many thanks, especially Duane
I love how quickly you can find an answer to such a specific question on here! top stuff
