I've just ordered a Canyon Grand Canyon AL 7.9 which ships with an XT rear mech and a SRAM chainset running on a press fit bb. I'm wanting to replace the SRAM chainset with the new XT double but am unsure whether i'll need another BB. I've a SRAM chainset on my Yeti and understand the whole GXP thing but i'm unclear if i'll be in the same boat with press fit. Can anyone help? Is there anything else I need to consider?
Thanks in advance.
Yep you'll need a new BB, it's the same deal with press fit.
[u]If it's a BB30 or PF30 shell you will need either a PF30 or BB30 to BSA converter which is basically a pair of press in cups. Then you thread the Shimano BB into those. Shimano don't make a BB30 chainset or BB.
Apparently it has Shimano Press-Fit-Standard. Presumably, with a shimano press-fit bb I can run a normal set of shimano cranks?
Yeah it's BB91, not BB30/PF30. Plastic cups pressed into a frame, using normal 24mm axle chainsets. New BB required though.
