Put on a new chain and jockey wheels yesterday, on todays ride everytime i applied power the rear skipped causing me to slip pedals etc. Its no skipping into other gears but actually just slipping, especially in middle ring.Mostly ok in big ring but slips in small ring towards higher gearing end.
The chain was replaced as it was worn and was lazy on gear changes, the jockey wheels because of play and worn teeth.
Soooooo any ideas.....cassette seems ok to look at by the way as is chainset.
Worn cassette? Last time I put a new chain on it slipped under load. A new cassette cured it.
As IRC suggests, a worn cassette is the likely cause. As the cassette and the chain both wear they often continue to work OK together for quite a while. But the drive train will then not work well when either of them has been replaced.
Looking at a cassette is not a definitive guide to if it is worn.
thanks for the comments . new cassette winging its way here. cheers.
