*Not looking for a CK one at the minute .....
I'm after an external 1 1/8'' to external 1 1/2'' (std external tapered cups) in silver.
When I've needed this combo in the past, albeit black, I've gone for Hope and their pick'n'mix cups but they are only available in black.
Being really picky I would like a split crown race which is unfortunately one of two reasons as to why the CK isn't at the moment an option.
So anyone know of a suitable alternative?
Hack saw a slot in the crown race = split race.
Hope + thinners?
Hi,
Try any of Dartmoor Bikes headsets...
Plenty of options and all of them offering silver.

Not sure about split crown race, but you can split it by hack saw 🙂
Cheers!
I.
As Hope nicely?

Cool, thank you will have a look.

Will give them a call.
Splitting races with hacksaws definitely works.
Why would you need to split a crown race..? 😕

That will do **** all to the anodising apart from make it clean.
If hope won't do a special you could buy a black one and get it re-anodised in silver.

to make it easy to install and remove if swapping forks is a consideration.
and yes, cutting a slot works just fine, it's only locating into a cartridge bearing, no balls are running on it so no issues.

Thinners won't, but caustic will dissolve aluminium (so use it quickly to just remove the thin anodized layer). Alternatively just use brasso or autosol polish to polish off the anodising.

yup, did it with my CK.
Never bothered before I had one (FSA/singular fork) that was particularly tricky. Did that one, it was so easy, that for the sake of a minute with a hacksaw, I've done with every one since.
stripping anodising: "10 seconds in some caustic soda then 30 on the buffing wheel" according to a man who's done it.
