Hey
Does anyone know how to tighten the freehub on an easton ea70 xct wheel?
When I remove the wheel there is a lot of play in the freehub and it's too easy to pull off by hand.
Also when on the bike and the axle is tightened anything more than loose the cassette moves with the hub when free wheeling. if I leave it 'just tight enough' water and muck gets into the hub past the seals!
Any help would be appreciated.
Sounds like you need to tap the axle cap further in- it should be a push fit and a gentle tap with a rubber mallet while the other end of the axle is on something soft on the floor should sort it.
Thanks for the response.
I've had a look again at it this morning and I'm not sure but it looks like I'm missing a rubber seal/spacer from the drive side bearing cap?

No, there isn't one on the driveside- it looks right to me. I have had this happen to me with my Havens but I can't for the life of me remember what I did to fix it- are the bearings in the freehub OK?
They feel okay but I'll get them changed out, see if that fixes it.
The way the hub is built/designed it figures that the bearings might be a bit gone.
When the wheel is locked in the bike and tightened there's no movement in the freehub (sidewards) but the freehub won't freewheel properly, it drags.... surely a bearing problem?
I think so, it was certainly the problem with mine.
