[Closed] Help with cassette for Wahoo Kickr

I’ve ordered a Wahoo Kickr and need to sort a cassette but I’m totally confused.

The bike I’ll be using has a Shimano MT510-B, Centerlock 28h, 12x148 Boost, Microspline hub and a Shimano SLX, CS-M7100, 12-speed, 10-51t cassette.

I’ve read that I can get an XD driver and SRAM or SunRace 12-speed cassette. I’ve also read that the SunRace cassette doesn’t need the XD driver.

Does anybody know first hand what parts I need and also, is there any difference between cassettes if I’m getting either SRAM or SunRace with the same 10-51t as the existing Shimano hub. I want to be able to change between the wheel and Kickr without have to dial in the derailleur each time or is this never going to be possible?
TIA, Mark

As far as I can tell, the spacing on Shimano and SRAM 12-speed cassettes is the same, so you should be able to use a 12-speed Sunrace cassette on the HG freehub body that comes standard on the Kickr. Buying a Kickr XD freehub and a SRAM cassette would do the same, but at vast expense, even if you can find the parts.

The cross compatibility is a bit of a lottery, but all the bike/cassette combinations I've used on a Kickr have been fine to use with a slight tweak to the indexing. If you count the half turns you make on the adjuster, you can simply reverse once you put the wheel back in.

The other thing you could do if you have the time / space / spares / inclination is to put together a turbo 'bike' and just leave it on the Kickr semi-permanently. It only needs a fork, front wheel, shifter and rear mech, cranks and seat-post plus saddle, bar etc and it doesn't matter if the frame is cheap and nasty.

@BadlyWiredDog Thanks. That’s a big help. I’m happy enough to get the SunRace cassette and save the money if it won’t have a detrimental affect.

No go on a spare bike. The only other bike I have is a 20 year old Specialized.
