When i pull the front brake lightly there is a judder, when i pull hard it dissapears. The brakes are clarks skeletal. I have looked over everything, alligned the calliper. Only thing i can see is on my quick release on the wheel there is one of the springs missing on one side.

That spring on the QR won't matter. Check the headset is properly adjusted?

assuming you have suspension forks,

quick way, rotate bars through 90 degrees, lock front brake on and gently rock the bike back and forward, if you feel a knocking it is the headset. Do it gently because there may be play in the fork. You turn through 90 degrees to remove as much fork play as you can.

Headset would be my first check too but it may also be the design of your disk. If it has big groves in it, it could be that the pad is being forced to bite on a large area then a small area then a large area causing the judder.

I tried that so i did and can feel a small knock through the handlebars. Does that need replaced then?

Discs with big holes in the braking surface can warble and pulse under light braking, if yours are like that then try some more solid ones

No,

what it means is the headset bearing may be a little loose.

you now have two choices, pay a shop to do it or learn. It is a simple job, word of caution be gentle you don't need much pressure.

few words of advice undo all the stem steerer bolts and the top cap. the top cap does not hold the stem on, it is just for applying pressure. You only need to tighten the top bolt to remove play and no more. once adjusted then tighten the stem. In theory you should be able to remove the top cap because it will do nothing, although i would not advise this.

One other detail, you may well find that the bearings in the headset have seen better days, you may want to consider regressing, and if the play has been there a while you won't be able to get the headset perfect, you find you get "notches" and when steering the fork wants to sit at certain angles and not turn smoothly.

Good advice from mrmo there, one other thing to consider is that there should be aprox 3mm of space between the top of the steerer tube and the top of the stem (stem above steerer) to allow for the bearings to be put into compression when the top cap is tightened.

Could be a case of inconsistent brake pad bed in? Uneven pad transfer layer on your rotors can cause juddering under braking. Just a thought..
