I know this is likely a daft question but I'm in the process of renting a bike with a bike shop abroad for when I go on holiday later in the year and they have asked me if I can send them my measurements for my current bike "high and long"...
I wonder what measurements they are after here?
I think maybe "high" is centre of bottom bracket to top of saddle? And "long" being tip of saddle to centre of handlebar?
Thanks in advance for any help, they are not native english speakers and are being really helpful and so I want to avoid wasting their time by asking them to attempt elaborate to me via email.
Depends what type of riding you are doing. If it's MTB they probably mean the Reach and Stack measurements of your current bike.
Sorry, I should have said, its a road bike
BB to saddle and saddle tip to handlebar is what I had to send off for my Majorca hire bike recently.
If you're unsure, maybe attach a diagram to the return e-mail showing the measurements so it's obvious what you've sent. Then if wrong they've got time to correct it.
Hang on .. I'll try and find something that'll help
Same as ttew. Road bike is likely to be height of saddle from BB. Length from saddle tip to centre of bars.
That’s what I’ve provided when renting abroad.
Road bikes can differ depending on type you are renting. In the past I’ve sent my measurements (height and inside leg) and also the type/model, size and stem length of current bike to give them a better idea….
May be a little over the top but gives all you need. Go to the link then click on thorn sizing data form box to view

Can you find yours on Geomterygeeks ?
You could take the measurements and send them the Piccy of the measurements on the form . They'll probably think oh ffs! this customer is serious ! ( or whatever ffs is in their language.
Here's another option.. there's one for road bikes too and a picture paints a thousand words particularly if you don't speak the lingo

Thanks all, this is really helpful! I will get in touch with them now. Much appreciated 😗

I'd send them 'A', 'C' and 'B' as a minimum
Freemotion or whoever isn't going to do a full on bike fit, they're just going to put the contact points in the right ballpark, you can make adjustments though if it's not right once you get riding.
