I am trying to find a front mech for a 58 chainring but cannot see one that would fit. Oh it needs to be a triple too.
What are the sizes of the other two rings? Also, what chainset is it? I know older TA Cyclotourist cranks can get dinner plate rings on them, so maybe an older derailleur like a Huret or Simplex might work.
I am not sure I will check tonight and see.
Also, how is the mech attached to the frame? If there's a frame boss, you might struggle but a clamp around the seat tube gives you more options.
What size is the cassette? You may need to reconsider options. For example, if you're running 58/13, a more common chainrung size with an 11 tooth cassette would give the same top end but with more easily accessible parts.
Awww I am not sure I will check tonight and see, its on a Tandem I just assumed it would be a standard chainset however no.
ive done this in the past by "tweeking" front mechs with a big screw driver - basically lifting the tail and positioning it higher up the frame so that the stick out nobby bit that pushes the chain over hits in the right place.
this that mtb tandem you bought ? if so why a 58 tooth ring ? surely be easier to change the front chainring no?
Thats the one not actually riden it two up yet!!!! No idea why its got a 58 to be honest however after a little test run on my own steering is well not suited to singletrack!!!!! It might be staying on the road
