I have a Rockshox Monach RT that has been knocking, and today whilst having a closer look, oil leaked out of the gate switch as I turned it. Is it a case of just a service cos the seals have gone or a total rebuild?, in which case it may be uneconomic so which shock do you good folk recommend? Thanks...
Ring TF Tuned, or Loco or Mojo.
A full service pretty much is a rebuild. No point in buying another as they all need serviced sooner or later anyway. Don't phone Mojo though unless you want to be told to go elsewhere
Most likely just needs an air can service, i.e. seals and oil.
Easy DIY job. TF etc can sell you the kit. 10 minutes to do (or at least it is on a Fox shock, only rear shock I've done so far). Well, 10 plus the time it takes to take a shock off plus faffing 😀

Not when it's leaking from an adjuster

Any leak from an adjuster is going to need a full rebuild, there's a seal gone somewhere which will need to be replaced.
I've had one fail on my catastrophically, mid ride having only recently been returned from warranty work. There was a loud "Fssssshhhh!" type noise accompanied with damping fluid spraying out all over the frame and my knees.
LoCo is the go to forum guy here. He does get pretty busy and booked up in advance, but you're guaranteed honest advice and very competitive rates.
Ah, I missed the adjuster bit. Yeah, foobared I guess.
Thanks for the advice folks
