OK, so I've never been one to spend much (any?) time setting up my suspension, generally just set rebound to middle-ish, and compression depending what I'm riding. And running them at lowest travel (95mm on my Pikes). And never really know what floodgate does.

However, just serviced my RS 426 coil Pikes (with external adjust compression), and fancy getting them feeling as good as possible for a change,.

Been reading up a little on how compression and floodgate relate/affect each other, and understand it a little I think, but not totally.

Just wondering if people can give me a hand understanding them, and specifically, how to set up for different types of riding.

Is it risky riding with the fork fully locked out? For smooth(ish) dirtjumps etc? Maybe have floodgate open a little so it will still move on harder hits?

And for general trail riding (some trail centre, some non), middle-ish compression, how about floodgate?

And then what about rebound? I've always just gone for "not too slow, not too fast" and left it at that, but anything a tad more accurate?

Any input would be great 🙂

Duane.
