I'd like to resurrect my old full susser to give to my Dad for him to have something more stable and forgiving to ride. The main pivot has rounded out and I need some help to fix it.
According to the LBS all that's needed is to drill out the old axle and insert a steal sleeve. So I'm looking for somewhere in the Reading area with a large enough drill (university/machine shop were suggested) and to source and press in the new sleeve.
I've searched the net to no avail, if anyone can suggest anywhere that could help it would be very much appreciated. Cheers
Hmm- no engineering firms able to do it??
Any machine shop would be able to do this.
Just walk in and speak to someone, if not them they would be sure to recommend somewhere.
Cheers guys, this may seem incredibly numptyish but searching for machine shops near Reading only brings very strange results, can anyone suggests one?
If you're prepared to post/courier the frame to Essex, I can strongly recommend my friend James who is boss man at JMB Services ( http://www.jmbservices.eu).
He plays with Aston Martins all day long and as you'd expect is a pretty dab hand at complex metalwork. Recently fixed his cracked Nomad, gussetted it beautifully and the repainted. Very, very good guy.
Alternatively, don't courier it. Take a day out and check the place out!
🙂
Yeah Reading was full of computer engineers when I was in that neck of the woods.
I'd try engine reconditioning places as they'd be used to jigging, drilling and fitting sleeves. Can't help with a specific one but this was the first on google: http://www.cfmengineering.co.uk/ There will be loads more.
