I've built up an OnOne Inbred 29er frame with horizontal dropouts to tow my kids trailer. With a chain tug and the trailer hitch I could only just get the Shimano Deore QR skewer on a few turns and popped off busting the thread when I tried to close the lever.

You need a longer skewer

Ditch the chain tugs. And adjust the chain tension properly.

Looking for solutions, I found the Shimano XT QR is 173mm long although I don't know how they measure it. The Deore skewer only needed another 5mm maybe to have been ok. Will it work? Any other ideas welcome to. Ta.

I think the Hope skewers come in two sizes for the rear, for bikes with thicker dropouts.

I know the XT skewer I have 'just' about fits on my Camber, but literally any shorter and I'd need an extra long one. Not sure if Shimano do the rears in different lengths.

Can't vouch for the trailer factor but XL halo hex or porky works really well with my inbred and Genesis high latitude slot dropouts with one ds tug.
