Hi All,
When I brake hard for a period of 5-10 seconds I get chatter on my front wheel (like its grabbing and releasing slightly). It causes the side opposite of my disk to flex on my Fork. any idea on what would possibly cause this?

Hard to say really, if it was me I would be checking everything, spoke tightness, wheel bearings, fork bushes etc.

If you send me an email, I will try and work through the problem with you, my email addess is in my profile.

uneven deposits on disc, contamination on disc, loose wheel spindle.

Check spindle tightness, clean disc and pads |( sand with fine sandpaper?) bed pads in again

If its only a week and a half old, take it back to the shop and ask them to take a look.

Quick release done up nice and tight?

If its hard to diagnose and brand new just put it back to the shop! By means of example, I had a quality issue on a disk once where the steel it was made from was not of even thickness and this caused a weird ABS type feel at the lever and inconsistent braking.

Could that be the cause its such a small thing though?

Shops in swansea though and im in gloucester so wanted to see if it could be anything i can do quickly before going all the way over there

What about the brake calliper bolts, are they done up properly?

no, that won't cause that.

I had a slight rippling in power from my old set of disc brakes.

I ended up sanding the pads slightly, and cleaning the rotors wiht a brake cleaner. Didn't work, so i kept riding and ignoring it, then i switched from sintered to organic pads, and it stopped. (oR THE OTHER WAY AROUND)

Make sure that the caliper is aligned (Hope method, check the vids on their site) and that both pistons are working evenly. Shops tend to use the loosen bolts - pull brake - tighten bolts method for installation and, to be honest, it's a shitty method.
