Just offered up some cranks to a 73mm BB with a hope threaded bb30 bottom bracket.

There's no way there's space for the Sram big fat plastic spacer (~15mm). Is that just for pf30 frames or have I bought the wrong cranks?

Bb30 cranks have a longer axle. I can't say for sure you have the wrong crank, but it sounds that way.

Cranks have bb30 and pf30 printed on the spindle and are ~101mm from the preload adjuster to the end of the spindle. They are a GX eagle b148 bb30 crankset.

BB shell is 73mm. With the hope threaded external cups in place that is about 95mm total, so there's definitely no room for a 15mm spacer!

If I'm reading correctly, I think Sram bb30 is designed around 73mm total shell width (with the bearings inboard), not a shell with external cups.
So, in essence, compatibility issue with my choice of BB and cranks.

So, what 165mm cranks to go with a bb30 external bottom bracket? DUB, with the hope conversion kit?
