Somehow I've managed to bend the 2nd largest sprocket on my cassette. Unsuccessfully tried pliers and clamping it but just springs back out.
I've got a blow torch so was thinking I could heat it and that would help it move back into shape - not sure it's a good idea though given proximity to the spider and the fixings that hold the sprocket on not to mention any long term impact in terms of strength.
Any recommendations for how to fix? It's quite new so don't want to have to replace.... And I'm meant to be riding Glen Tilt tomorrow....
No way I'd be taking that any further than I was prepared to walk home...

It's only one sprocket of ten or so...
Presumably the others are OK to use?
When it folds over completely it will take out a few others and probably break the spider too.
Think I'd just be putting a new one on, then you can ponder whether the old one is salvageable at your leisure.
New cassette time surely?

Unfortunately it's fouling the chain when I use the 3rd largest sprocket too. Took it into the workshop at work and managed to improve the situation but still slightly bent....
Edit to remove double post...
I managed to bend two sprockets in Wales a few weeks ago, 32t and 30t.
Using a vice and mole grips I managed to slowly bend the sprockets back and all has been well since (about 200miles ridden)

As others have said, get down your LBS and get a new cassette. If you can't get one in time, you still have a hatful of gears to use, including the all important big one.
Rubber mallet, soft grip vice and some patience was the order of the day. Not 100% straight but all gears now working and two good outings at the weekend with no ill effects. I'll buy a new cassette when it (if it ever) breaks! 😀
