Bought a set of hope straight pull wheels. However the rear was a qr, but mine is a 142 12. Bought a kit on CRC which is the pro 2 rear x12 thro kit. But I need to remove the axle from the hub and cannot work out how to do it. I have looked on hopes site and nothing there.
End caps and free hub are off, but the new end caps received do not fit on the current axle, so a bit worried I have spent £20 quid unnecessarily.
Please help,me!
The last hope hub I took apart was a bulb. To remove the axle you had to hit it hard (from the drive side I think) with a mallet, or hammer and block of wood.
It'll be the same for the pro2 aswell
This pushes the bearing out, you'll need something to hammer it back in with. A socket bit the right diameter works well.
Have a look on you tube a hope have put a video up on how to strip the pro 2
Got the new axle in and it's too narrow for the freehub body.
So loads of play in the freehub body when it's attached.
Any ideas.
Sound like you may have got a kit for the pro 2 rather than the pro 2 evo which I think is the one use in the wheels now
And one other thing to check older 12 through axle and 142 is not the same thing
But it's been a while since I've done a conversion. There used to be a technical bit on the hope site with all the info on
Looks like all you need to go from qr to 142+ is two new end caps
To be sure check the list here and look up what you need
