I'm pretty new to mtb but very willing to learn and am really enjoying it. I have had a few rides now and have got used to the bike etc and now looking to fettle it a bit more to see if I can get it to feel any better / improve my riding.

So I have a few questions I hope you can help.

1. What difference does adjusting the front shock make when your riding ? Or how should I set this ?

2. I have the seat height correct but wondered how I should set it moving it length ways ?

3. The main trouble I have is my feet seem to bounce on the peddles a lot. What can I do to help stop this ? I don't want to use clip in peddles.

1) It makes a LOT of difference. Google the set up instructions for your fork. General rule is about 25% sag when seated or in the attack position, but lots of other stuff depending on your fork

2) Seat height - Sit on the saddle with the pedals at 6 o'clock position. Leg should be just fully extended with your heel on the low pedal.
Seat position. With cranks level and foot in the correct riding position on the forward pedal, a vertical line from the front of the knee should go directly through the middle of the pedal axle

3) Buy the Lopez McCormack book on MTB Skills
