My eldest has been out with me on his Pinnacle Kauri on and off for the last 18 months which has been great for both of us. He has enjoyed it and seems keen to do more riding. I want him to really love this sport, get away from the Xbox, phone, so we can spend more time together during his teens. The Pinnacle has been great but is now a bit limiting for him, so its new bike time this Christmas....lucky boy!
If possible I want to get him a hardtail with an air fork and 1x?. I have found these bike on line. Has anyone any experience of these, recommend one over another? or recommend anything else?
Although 12 he is only 146cm. So looking at XS bikes I think.
Any advise welcome. thanks.

Any advise welcome. thanks.
He'll grow out of any so my philosphy is trying to minimise cost whilst getting the right bike.. my 10yr old is happily riding an adult XS for just over a year hopefully he'll jump to a M after...but bought used so loss will be minimum. Try and sit him on some but might be closer to a S than XS???
Buying used:
In many ways the chance of a damaged bike is less as XS and S are usually going to be stronger than a L/XL (same tubes, welds) but the person riding it will be lighter.
