Hi

Ive just bought a dropper post (internal) and want to install it on my whyte 901 (2017) but I need to take the bottom bracket off to run the cables through etc.

Anyway, my question is what tool/bolt thingy do I need to remove the crank arm. Obviously my Shimano one and park ccp-22 don't fit but I cant find any info on what I need.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! - Off to bang my head against a brick wall

Don't you just need an 8mm allen key as with other Sram cranks?

Yes, I used the 8mm allen key which removed the outer two bolts but the crank arm is left sitting on the crank and wont budge so I'm presuming theres a remover of some sort to release it?

It's usually an 8mm allen key job on the crank to remove it (middle hole, not the larger outer nut). Will need a lot of leverage as it's on with a high torque. You don't need special tools other than that. It's a self extracting bolt system (the outer nut is there as self extractor, but as I say, don't touch that one).

Then for the bottom bracket, it looks like the 2017 901 is a threaded GXP? in which case a GXP / Hollowtech II type of tool is what you need. *Note thread direction is different drive and non-drive side!!*

Do you really need to take cranks and BB off to route the cable through the internal guides though? Daft system if so.

D'oh! Just seen your update... you've removed the self extractor bolt also by the sound of it. Now you're stuffed! 😀

Hardly. Just screw both bolts back into the crank and then undo the inner one.

Ah damn!! didn't know it had a self extractor bolt. Will Screw it back on now and use the allen key. Yes Theres no way that the cable will pass the bottowm bracket without taking it out and routing it (that I can see anyway.) I was hoping it would just be a case of slide it in as everything in there for internal routing and the 905 has one already installed!
