I've got a Cube stereo with a Newmen SL A 30 12x148 rearwheel. When I picked the wheel up this morning,to put it on the bike, the cassette fell off.I'm new to this SD technology, there is no sign of a lockring, how do I get it to stay put?
same happened to me last year in the alps. Just slid it back on and kept using it for a year. Was fine.
Strictly speaking I don't think it was the cassette, it was the cassette and part of the freehub. Is yours the same?
I think so,there is a circular thing that fell off too,it sits under the cassette and is part of the freewheel system.
I've put it back on and the wheel rotates ok, but the cassette just isn't secured to the hub ,other than by the axle,it just seems wrong to me.I'm probably just too old now .
End cap normally keeps it all in place, as above, should jsu tbe a matter of pushing it back on and reseating the freehub, then push the end cap back on.
It's the same on most freehubs, some take quite some force to remove (Hope for example) whilst others come off pretty easily (Mavic). They're all held in place when the wheel is in use so not really an issue.
I did this with a superstar electro hub , unfortunately I was one a trail and lost all the pawls so had to walk back
Oh good,it's got an axle that tightens into place, and holds it secure while riding,a DT Swiss RWS system, which tightens to 15nm,so I assume that's OK.
This happened to me the other day too for the first time. Took the wheel off to give the cassette a clean and the entire cassette and freehub body came off. Went straight back on and works fine but I'm with you....just seems wrong.... modern world eh?!
