You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hi All,
I am going to buy a new Scott RC 900 Team and now just shopping around for the best options. I have a shop that has offered me 10% which is great but I also have the option of going to PedalOn and getting podium points. All seems a bit too good to be true as I can get a lot of stuff and the RRP value outweighs the 10% I can get elsewhere.
Am I just being tempted by shiny stuff I don't really need or should I take the 10% and run?

The bike is shiny stuff you don't need, any other stuff is drops in the ocean after that so, tomato(e)/tomato.
Will you end up buying the gear anyway? If yes, take the points or what not. If no, take the 10% and put it into your coke and hookers fund.
You've hit the nail right there. If you get more value from the additional kit and it's useful to you... get it.
If not you're just adding stuff to the order you might not use. As an aside side Pedal-On is just round the corner from work and I've used them quite a few times for kit and bikes over the years.
Local LBS is worth 10% on a new bike IMO.
Says the man who just deal with Rutland Cycles after a warranty issues...
I'd go for the best deal at a shop that was relatively close by so it isn't too much faff if you need any warranty stuff done. Pedalon are good though and well, shiny stuff...
If you need the stuff then go to Pedal On. I've had four bikes from them over the years along with other bits and bobs and they're a great bunch of people with fantastic knowledge who are more than happy to help when things deviate from the norm. Their podium points scheme is great value if you need/want the kit.
If you don't need the stuff then the discount's probably more use to you.
Dangeourbrain,
Nice idea but not sure it would not be a long night on 350 quid!!
Still weighing up the options. It's fascinating how easy it is to convince onself that a pair of winter boots is required when they are sort of free. Clearly they are required though as winter is coming!
