You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I'm looking to upgrade from a Superlight '03 with 130mm Revs due to a change in location but can't work out which models I should be looking for. Can anyone explain what changed in 2009? I know I want to stay 26" and I know I don't want the older frame style but I'm confused by these ones in the middle, the geometry looks the same as far as I can tell?
cheers

I think it was a redesign of the rear triangle after a few reports of cracking on the earlier models. geometry and travel were unchanged iirc.
The swing arm changed from pinch bolts holding the axle to a collet axle. Stronger and less susceptible to stress.
Didn't they have a snappy swingarm that was fixed on the 6.1?
Edit: too slow.
thanks guys, so any of the earlier ones which have made it this far are probably ok or have had the back end replaced? That makes it a bit easier.
I was wondering if I had to check for sensible seat tube sizes or tapered headtubes but it seems they all have the first and none have the second!

I think Hecklers went tapered in 2013/14
Just put my Heckler 6.0 frame (large white) on the classified's if you are interested? Hasn't snapped in 7 years if that helps.

But they also went to 650b (I think) which is a step too far for me, one thing at a time!
Compass, your advert was part of the reason for asking, unfortunately i'm miles away and have never even ridden a heckler yet so might need to take it slow.

No worries Mark, If you have any specific questions I can try and answer them. I've only owned the one but can certainly let you know my experiences of owning this one longterm.
Cheers, at the moment I'm trying to get an idea of what it might cost me in total. I think the Heckler is a 135mm rear wheel so that will stay the same, also all of my drivetrain should move across. I would want a bigger fork (this is the main reason for switching) which would also mean a new wheel (some kind of thru bolt) but other than that i think it would be a cable kit and a reverb (currently on 27.2 cheapo dropper).
I would like to keep the build to the lighter side so I'm thinking some kind of Revelation 150mm would be the best option? Ay other suggestions?
V8 - I have a 2010 Heckler. Where are you?
I run mine with a 160 Marz 55, which certainly wasn't light, but mine is really an Alps bike. My previous Heckler had a 150 Rev, and it suited it quite well.
For a slightly left field choice I had DT Swiss EXM's. They were 150mm light and seemed torsionally stiff when compared to Fox Floats I had previously. My build was very light and it certainly made it a very capable all round bike. Good up hill and a blast down.
But they also went to 650b (I think) which is a step too far for me, one thing at a time!
The last 26" hecklers from late 2012, early 2013 had tapered head tubes.
I've just moved to the SW edge of the peaks, Biddulph. If you're anywhere near by I'm trying to get out and met people as much as possible.
Sadly I'm in East Sussex. The only thing to be wary of with Hecklers is they come up shorter than most bikes.
Acidchunks, good to know, thanks.
Dant, no worries. I already have a superlight which I think is similar in geometry so I should be fine (I think).

at eurobike 2012 they showed the 2013 heckler, still 26#, tapered ,ISCG05,and slacker headangle 67.5...
in spring 2013 the delivery of the first frames had just started SC stopped this model and changed it completely to 650B with 142mm rear and new colors and graphics..
only a few frames with 26# and tapered reached the european distributor
