Child friend has a Magura Durin SL with the Albert SL damper. Its a non internally serviceable and has a hydraulic lock that can be solved for a couple of cycles with a drain/bleed but then its locked again in use.
AFAIK the (pre-TS8) Albert SL, Albert Select and DLO dampers all fit but I cant find anything out there to replace it.
I once found  a german ebay parts fork when i was looking for the deformed foam elastomers (but I fixed these using boiling water and wife's best cookware) but I've seen no parts source for this generation of forks since.

anything of use from here?

https://www.axevotech.eu/en/ACCESSORIES-SPARE-PARTS/MAGURA

If the damper is not officially service but now broken, perhaps an option to try an unofficial repair?

Unfortunately nothing there, but thanks for the suggestion.
Normally I'd not be shy about taking the damper apart but the Albert SL is mechanically/crimp fixed so theres no bolts holding it together and would need to be cut open like a can of beans.
Last resort would likely be drilling a relief hole into the top of it to bypass the shim stack.. but I also don't know what it looks like inside as damper assembly diagrams don't seem to exist like for fox etc

Is the fork any good when it's working?  Kids deserve good bikes, I'd replace it with a decent air fork, should be easy enough to find something second hand if budget is a problem (probably cheaper than a new damper anyway)

Absolutely!

the fork was superb before a hot stint in a black van on a 30+ day. It'll still be great if I can fix it.
I don't think there's anything better though to be fair in 26 that's as light and stiff as the Durin. But yes, having a  working fork is more important.
