You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
After much deliberation going to replace my small duck egg mk1 solaris (stealth ad?!) with something that can take racks. Not too expensive, seem to have settled on a genesis longtitude. I usually go medium these days at 172cm on a good day.
These look long though (clue in the name??) mind you the small looks maybe too short in reach. Anyone have one my height? Also, is the standover accurate?
I'm about 1cm taller than you and have a medium. It feels great. The small would have an awful lot of seat post!
Definitely medium rather than small.
Cheers folks.
Should be ok with a short stem and inline post. I’m around 180 and my Mk1 (29er) feels compact enough, plenty of standover. I normally go with 17” or 18” flavour of medium depending on brand. I also had no problem on a large that I tried. Looking at Genesis’ size charts and having owned a medium Longitude and medium Vagabond, I’d in retrospect tend to agree on their recommendations
And there’re always swept bars if you desire less reach. I switch between flat or loop.
Cheers Malvern. yeah I've a set of the on one Jones copies I might use.
I think the size charts are a bit if for my height (6'2"). For both my old longitude and new Tarn they have me needing an XL. However I had a large in both which felt great.
Im about 2cm taller than you and all my bikes are medium, (cube, charge, surly)
Ive ridden a small genesis day one 853, it felt ever so slightly cramped for me.
I think you are bang on to think medium.
