Hi,

I recently took part in the dusk till dawn on a mate's bike after being away from mountain biking for a few years [running marathons and rock climbing, probably should have stuck to mountain biking] The dusk till dawn really reminded me how much I enjoyed getting out on the bike.

I want to get my full sus back on the trails but the front fork is dead, was a fox float [ I think..... I'm in Aberdeen at the mo and the bike is in Glasgow] I'm not sure what is on the market at the moment and being back at university means that I can't really afford to replace it with something of same standard but i figure that it was top of the line about 6 years ago so probably a middle of the road fork now could be better. Is there anything that you would recommend or even have for sale?

Thanks for your help with this.

Kenny

Why not just get it serviced, should be a lot cheaper than a new one.

Hi,

I sent it to TF tuned a few years ago and the guy on the phone thought it might be better to just ride it till it broke as it was pretty messed up inside. He didn't think it was worth servicing 🙁

Lot so of choices to be had, I'd look at 2010 onwards RS Revelations's 2nd hand (140/150mm travel but the difference should be negligible), but brand new Sektor's or Recon's would probably been good cheapish choices too. Bear in mind lots come with 15 or 20mm axles, so you might need to get a QR ones to save money changing wheels, unless you can get adapters for your current front wheel.
I don't follow any other manufacturer so can't help you with other alternatives, but no dout the are manitou/fox (and others) forks that should be considered.

Rockshox - you can usually find a good deal on line, and to be honest they are better than older Fox Forx anyway!

+1 for Rockshox forks being better than a six year old Fox.

If you have a 20mm hub then there's some really good news:

If not then check out the Recon line of forks. IIRC the Attack Trail of 2007 vintage took a 130-140mm fork, so there should be plenty of options there.
