Good Morning Singletrack. I've narrowed it down to four bikes to be used as my everything other than MTB bike. Two choices are quite practical and the other two, if I'm being honest, are not. They are, however, pretty damn sweet. I just can't make my mind up as to which to get.

The two practical options are the Charge Plug 4 and Genesis Day One 20. Both practical, all round bikes that can be used for my short commute to work, weekend blasts and longer distance rides on mixed terrain. They also have mudguard and mounts for some racks that may prove useful in the future.

The two other options are the Kona Humuhumu and Stooge. Both in SS guise over winter with an eye to adding gears in spring. Love the idea of just cruising about on mixed terrain, but know I'll get the urge to ride fast. I think I could bodge mudguards to either of these. Being a Mountain Biker at heart I love the look of both of these.

Keep flipping between four open tabs, but just can't make a decision. Head says probably the Charge, just because I've had a Day One before. Heart says Kona for cruising about or the Stooge because available in mental pink and can be built up in different guises. Think the other half is going to be laying a new patio if I don't make a decision soon! 😕

Stooge. Easiest decision you will make all day. Been a long while since a bike has had so much unanimous love.

I'd be looking at the full build that Charlie Bike Monger is selling. Don't think the 27+ would be ideal for mixed surfaces though. Can imagine them being bad on road with single speed. Other than that though it's just such a good looking bike.

It's always gonna be a bit of a compromise, but the one that makes you happiest to look at. Life is too short for practical.

Would you spend £100 on walking shoes without trying them on first? Demo and the right bike will grab you like that puppy at the dog home.

Actually - strike that puppy in the window analogy it might look cute but will turn out to be a bit of a dog.

Stooge. I use a Jones for the same things you suggest and they're pretty similar in design. The Jones bars allow you to tape them and get in full on roadie pose for full on aero styleee!

I've just built a stooge in radberry, SS. Lovely bike. 27.5x 3" nobby Nic.
I'd been after one for so long, now I see why. You can change them around so much.
