Right hand shifter wouldn't shift the other day. Changed the cable but did it very quickly and in the dark! Seems cable is stuck and shifter won't shift at all. Any quick solutions? Its a shimano xt m770 shifter.
cheers

What gear is it in, in what way is it not moving, have you tried WD40, taken the cover off etc?

cheers, was going to be my first move but I'm just being lasy to see what others come up with 🙂

I did start trying to take the cover off but some of those screws are pretty s**t, think its in a middle gear - it almost seems as if the cable hasn't been threaded properly and has got caught?

Off to look properly now...

I had a lazy LX shifter last year, would work intermittently then not at all, I blasted the shifter through with GT85 then a heavier lube, it freed it up but not for long. Eventually found a single shifter on CRC for a reasonable price (£30ish IIRC for an XT).

you've changed the cable on it but it's stuck in a middle gear?

Does not sound good.

My sram x7 shifter eventually gave up the ghost yesterday after 5 yrs loyal service. I had been squirting wd40 into it each time it stuck but this time that wouldn't work. I made a half ar5ed attempt at opening it up to clean it but unsurprisingly it's guts sprang all over the floor, so I ordered a new one from crc for £15. Decent price, mustn't grumble.

Sorry I didn't have the magic solution for u!

I'd hazard a guess that you haven't located the nipple into the shifter's hole properly, and it's jammed between the housing and cover.

Starting again seems like a good idea, should let you know whether it's the cable or the shifter that's the problem.
If you're going to take it apart do it somewhere near a fridge....
