I need a new chainring for my gravel/commuter bike.
It’s SRAM 1* X-synch 42t 110 bcd 5 arm spider. For a non-boost qr frame.
However 1 of the chainring bolts is a “hidden bolt” that goes next to the crank.
I’m struggling to find a replacement without either a) going up a groupset to Force or b) buying 5 new chainring bolts to bolt it on with.
I prefer to buy from an established bike shop rather than eBay, a mate had some problems with counterfeit stuff.
Please help.
Also if the same shop has SRAM Hydro-R hood covers in stock that would be great. 👍🏻
What's your budget?
Its sometimes cheaper to buy a new Chainset and sell your old one than buy a chainring.
I’d prefer cheaper end of the spectrum. There’s loads of Force or other options available around the £80-90 mark, I’m just wondering whether I can get similar to like for like.
I dislike the idea of replacing the whole chain set due to hassle and it seems wasteful.
I did wonder whether I could go to direct mount with a Rival chain set and not need to use a bolt on chainring?
