My sons hardtail will soon be ready to go to pastures new, and I’ll be on the hunt for a 140 or 150mm travel full susser. He isn’t that big so I’m looking for a 27.5 XS or maybe a small womans bike with a price around £2200, maybe I can squeeze a little more if I sell a few bikes that are lying around here not doing much.

What’s good for little people sub 5ft, I’m thinking a Stumpjumper S1, Transition Scout looks good but too expensive.. I know this bike will be outgrown so expect to be selling it in a few years. Looking at the current secondhand market, people are expecting covid prices and with new bike prices tanking, I’d rather put my money into new as opposed to old.

Giant/Liv make great XS bikes.

I'm not up on current models or what is second hand, but mrs_oab at a lofty 5' rocks this titchy thing.

In the classifieds is a cotic jeht in a small size that was setup to run mullet for a child. Sounds ideal.

There is an XS Giant Liv on Little Rippers on FB at £450. Plenty of money left to upgrade it if needs be.

I have a small Canyon Spectral. It's from 2016 but has seen low mileage and everything works perfectly. It's honestly a great bike, I just don't ride it more than a few times a year.

I've been thinking of selling and realise it's not worth much. For something that will be grown out of quickly, it could do you a job? I might even buy it back if I miss it (which I will).

One thing to think about for little legs is where the pivots sit/frame design. We have a Giant Trance like the LIV above in small rather than XS. We use an external 110mm 27.2 Brand X dropper but due to the seat tube design he had to run a cut down post to start with, with all the faff of me constantly putting it down and back up again.

This worked when we went to Stiniog but was a pain in the arse everywhere else.

Marin do a kids FS with 26" wheels and the Propain Yuma looks fun too.
