Morning All,
Noticed that there was a little oil that had leaked from around the compresion and floodgate adjusters on the right leg of my Revelation Team forks when upside down. This wasn't a lot but enough to notice and I'm off to the PPDS on Thursday so would like to try and get it fixed. No time to send off to anywhere so looking for advice on which of the seals I need to replace/check.
I have had the Damper/compresion unit out and it all looks Ok, not sure other than a split seal what to be looking for tbh though.
Forks are Revelation Team 2010 with Black Box Motion Control
There is a cracking shop in town that I'm sure would have the correct O ring if only I knew which one I need to replace. I've checked out the internet and can't really find the information I'm after.
Cheers Carl
Nothing to worry about, a lot of them do it, there is around 130ml in the cartridge so will take a long time for it to make any difference to the damping.
Not really worried, like you say there is around 130ml in there but Don't want it leaking in the bike bag on the trip over, so was looking at sorting it. I suppose I could wrap a rag round the top, but would that then not encourage it more?
It's very common, I had a set of brand new Pikes that leaked a little from the upper seal when inverted. Sometimes it's as simple as tightening the 24mm bolt on the top of the fork leg a little. There is a weakness on the compression side seals, but it's only an issue if you notice a vague feeling in the compression adjuster and/or turning the dial has no effect on the damping.
I've rebuilt a set of Pike airs with new seals and it's surprisingly easy to do.
