Hello,
So planning to cycle the Hadrians Cycleway, National Cycle Network route 72 Linky
This will be with two friends over 31st Dec to 1st Jan. The route is 174 miles, and is split into three sections of around 60ish miles.
1st Challenge: The plan is to try and ride it within a 24 hour period. This means the first leg is going to have to be ridden in the dark. I have a Hope R4 which I use for commuting but am after a cheapish, yet somewhat reliable light for bar mounting, ideally rechargeable and moderately powerful. I am confused by the number of posts on here, and can't wait for a slow boat from china, so where to get one please?
2nd Challenge: The first leg is from Ravensglass to Silloth which is 60ish miles and doable in the dark. I am sure it's a lovely place but there does not appear to be much in the way of accommodation in Silloth. An alternative would be to drive to Carlisle, park up at a travel inn, get the train to Ravensglass and cycle back. Trouble is with this is that it'll be about 95 miles, mostly in the dark. Any ideas of alternative places to stay on route?
3rd Challenge: Routes. I have the Sustrans map which is great, but was wondering if anyone has a GPX for the whole route to save my plotting this on Viewranger, pretty please?
