You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hiya,
Same as an older thread by Windysurfer.. that I did add to a couple of days ago but haven't got a response (sorry if new thread is not the right thing, but you know how it is when you gotta get the bits ordered to fix at the weekend!)
A couple of nights ago my freehub seized on my Roam 40 hub.. one of the teeth on the ratchet ring had sheared.. which then left the rest of them to come out one by one.. they appear to be individual teeth tension set into a ring?
I can't see the part listed in sram literature but did read an early review of the Roam wheel sets advising the intervals were DT Swiss.
Surely I should be able to remove the old one and press on a new assembly.. or is it new hub time.. so basically new wheel.. so basically a few hundred quid!
I did email TF Tuned last night so they might have a solution for me.
It seems like such a delicate but crucial bit taking all the loading, surely this must be failing a lot.? I can't find anything about it on the net.
Any help advice would be appreciated
Even just what hub / wheel to buy to replace (Roam 40 27.5 maxle 4 pawl 26 tooth)
If you look close on my picture at left tou can see me trying to push the tooth back in with my door key! Needless to say I failed and ended up having to ride 10 miles home as a fixie or it threw the chain!!

Ok so TF tuned replied saying DT don't even do a 4 pawl system so not them..
Any ideas?
Can't help I'm afraid but I have the same wheels...2.5 years old. They now make a sort of creaking noise when pedalled.
Taken freehub off and all appears good, so I can't work out what is causing the noise.
Other than that, they appear to be working, so if your fault is common then I'm assuming the noise could be start of failure.
sorry, missed your earlier post.
I took my wheel to Wheelbase in Stavely who couldn't get a replacement ratchet ring from sram. They did send my wheel back to SRAM under warranty who then sent me a new wheel out even though the bike was coming up to 2 years old.The ratchet ring looks to be replaceable but I searched everywhere and rang everyone I could think off but could find one anywhere.
