Really can't figure this one out. Just put on new pair of hope-crests wheels and now chain is making a loud clicking sounds as it is pull round the top of 36T and next one down under load.

I can put it in stand and all gears work fine, H and L set correct plus tension for indexing set correct but if i hold wheel and put force on pedals while turning crank and watch chain on top of 36T it clicks as each link comes off tooth but its not jumping up its more like its jumping or snapping sideways over towards the outside.

Had no problems with this on previous wheels same cassette. Cassette, chain and jockey wheels where new in Feb this year but didn't change front rings as they seemed ok and are less than a year old. Have since changed front middle as i had one anyway and makes no difference.

Have redone gears setup and taken wheel out and checked its in properly plus taken cassette off and checked seating a few times now.

Have checked chain length and its not stretched

Think I may have to put cassette back on old wheels and check again.

Really strange one and sounds like its really grinding even when riding on the flat and up hill get worse.

I would really appreciate any suggestions as to what it could be

Try Putting some grease between the cassette and the free hub body.

I can remember people on here going on about using spacers on certain wheels/hubs behind the cassette...something along those lines. Are you sure you don't need something like that? Is the chain rubbing the spokes when on the 36t gear?

My Hope hubs do this with any cassette that doesn't have an alloy carrier. Cleaning the cassette and freehub body cures it until some dirt gets down there (ie the next puddle). A bit of grease will help.
Although mine sound more like a grinding noise than a click, although clicks do happen!!
Ally carriers do this to a lesser extent, but still make a noise when dirty.
