Hi,
I've been driving myself a bit mad with tyre choice of late.
Main reason is I'm quite happy on my 26" except for when buying tyres comes around.
Last time I needed to buy tyres was around 10 years ago as I've had multiple sets, but now all are looking pretty hammered.
Looking around, there doesn't appear to be much choice and definitely not value!
Is there anyone here who is in a similar situation and has a 'goto' 26" tyre?
I've only ever run Maxxis ignitors, michelin all mountains and panaracer fire xc's.
Have seen Maxxis ardents and high roller II's in the sizes I want, but concerned the weight of either of these might be a bit too high - also dubious about how good they are as all rounders?
Never gone the Continental route, anything as an all rounder from them anyone recommends?

One man's all rounder is another's flimsy summer only selection.
HRII is pretty good on mixed conditions. A DHRII is better but you might struggle to get it in 26".
FWIW on my 26" bike I used to run HRII front and Ardent rear for trail centre stuff. It was a good combination as long as the ground wasn't too wet or loose
According to the Schwalbe web site they still make a number of their more popular tyres in 26"
So you could run Racing Ralph Rear with Nobby Nic front or Nobby Nic rear with Hans Dampf (or Magic Mary) front, depending where you sit on the XC/Trail/Enduro spectrum. Whether you can find any in stock in the UK is another matter of course.

You're spot on and did fear posting a "recommend me an all round tyre" post, but where choice is so limited I'd happily take anyones opinion on board and have a closer look.
HRII and DHRII's, how do you find the weight of them? I ride an old 2004 Chameleon so there's most width options open.

I've never gone down the Schwalbe road either, I've seen a few in the past and always felt they looked like they'd wear too fast or be super likely to puncture? I'm only basing this nonsense opinion of mine on the fact they've felt a bit 'flimsy' ? I'm happy to be told I'm talking rubbish on this, as I've never long termed a set.
Just bought some Nobby Nic 26*2.25 from Rutland Cycles. Seem okay to me

The ones on offer £20? Look a good option, thanks all, this is what I was kind of after, a nudge in the direction of something that won't bust the bank or be a total let down.
Both HR2 and DHR2 are available in 26" sizing, I run both depending what I'm doing. They're not as bad as the old wire bead DH tyres but definitely not as light as my Race Kings.
I got them for £18 each 2 weeks ago 😎
