I've fitted a new 105 disk groups and have less than impressive breaking power. 160mm rear / 180mm front rotors have so far resulted in very mediocre performance.
Is there any trick to ensuring the best possible bleed with internal cables? Based on years of experience with MTB bleeds, they seem ok, howeverIi suspect this is the most likely cause for the lack of bite.
If the levers are not spongy its not bleeding thats the issue. are they bedded in? Are the discs clean? are the pads properly centralise and all pistons moving?
I had to bleed mine (Shimano, but not 105) without pads to get a decent bitepoint. Used a spacer between the pistons smaller than the pad width.
Dunno if this is a proper thing, but it worked!
Yeah, you're supposed to bleed them with the spacer.
Bleed with spacer. Everything is new, super careful to avoid any contamination. Worked ok for a few days, then started to feel spongy on the rear. Re-bled and shifted maybe 2 small bubbles. Fiddled with the free stroke and the action feels pretty positive, Just no power. The front, which has a touch more snap in the lever, is still only marginally powerful.
My BB7's were way better. Hence thinking something's wrong with my set up.

I know that! What I mean is a different spacer, so that the pads are closer to the disc when you've finished.
No power is weird though. My road brakes are mental-powerful. EVEN THOUGH I DON'T NEED IT ON THE ROAD BECAUSE THERE IS MORE GRIP.(sorry)
