Anybody any recommendations for some comfortable kit for kids (one is 4 and the other is 8)?
Looking to improve on the clumpy cheap helmets and pads you get from the likes of Halfords with cartoon characters on, and looking for something that will be a mini-version of the comfortable adult gear.
If the kit fits and feels nicer, that'll make them more likely to get out more and stay out for longer.
Got my two kitted out at Evans (the Manchester velodrome one), who have a really decent selection of kids stuff. You didn't specify whether your offspring are male or female, but it its the latter then the Specialized girls helmets are specifically designed to accommodate a pony-tail. This is very important
I asked about helmets here last week and got some good recommendations

Ended up buying a Giro Tremor for my 7yo. It's as well made as the adult helmets and styled the same and he likes it. Usual caveat of trying before buying applies especially as some kids helmets state that they accomodate a wide range of head sizes and are less ideal at the smaller end.
we have the fox titan peewhee pads for my boy - seem really good and decent price too from crucial BMX..
Thank you, had been meaning to ask about pads for my 5 yr old and those Fox Titan Peewhee ones look great!
I replied about helmets on the thread linked above but with regards to pads.
Both mine use G-Form knee and elbow pads. They are alright I suppose. Very XC friendly but not the most durable.
Cheers all. I had a read through the previous similar thread (which I missed 1st time round) and some good suggestions.
If you live anywhere near Stirling then go to Comrie Croft. They had an amazing collection when we were there last year.
