Hi there, do any ladies or gents have any experience of, or advice regarding bike hekmets rubbing your head when riding and causing hair loss? This has been happening to me. I started wearing a buff underneath but this seems to have made it worse... any thoughts please?
Thanks!

regarding bike hekmets rubbing your head when riding and causing hair loss?

And I thought it was male pattern baldness in my case 🙂

Anyway, sounds like the helmet is too lose to me

Buy a helmet that doesn't move so much on your head. Make sure that he adjustments secure the helmet to your head. Move/flop your head less.

Too much helmet rubbing can cause hair to grow

Well I think I'll put the Sinead O'connor plan on the backburner for now! I think that perhaps my helmet is a bit too loose. However, I got it fitted at a decent bike store and it fitted OK when I got it last year but I think I'm doing more riding on uneven terrain these days (either that or my head has shrunk!) Thanks though.

Most helmets have some sort of ratchet adjustment at the rear, make sure its done up snug (but not so snug it gives you a headache. Then do the chinstrap up and check the straps that go in front and behind each ear are the correct length, its common for them to be poorly adjusted, leaving one too loose which then allows the helmet to tilt for or aft. You will usually need to keep removing the helmet to adjust the length of these until its adjusted correctly. Helmet should be quite low just above your eyebrows. Finally, snug up the chin strap. Shake head firmly, there should be no movement.

Thanks Spooky. Yeah I think I need to look into fitting issues so I don't get any movement. 🙂
